Valve seal warped and came unseated due to excess heat. Keep the heat torch aimed away from the main body and towards the ends.

I sweated (silver solder weld) these valves into 1/2" nominal copper pipe and it went very well. I was concerned that the temperature of the propane gas torch would possibly damage the internal gland in the valve when I was sweating the copper lines into the valve. No problem at all. I did minimize the time that I was heating the valve ports, as to not risk overheating the valve. It is a well constructed valve and I highly recommend them. Especially the great price.
