worked good on my 2008 jeep compass.needed to use a impact gun on mine with a 17mm hex, I put two screw drivers inside on the fan blandes to stop the rotor from spinning. only need one quick burst of the impact to remove.. at least on mine it was the old righty tighty lefty loosey.I can't say how long it lasted though as my alternator started smoking about a month later.but defiantly worth a try if yours is broken and it can save you 200-500 dollars with this method.17mm hex impact can be expensive so if your on a budget i would suggest getting a 17mm allen wrench/key and cutting it and putting it into a 17mm socket..How to tell if you need this, Put a screw driver into your alternator onto the fan blades. and spin your clutch it should only be able to turn one way . if it spins like mine both ways you need to try this.or if its making lots of noise ect ect.. however my issue was it was free spinning both ways without turning the armature..
