These locking nuts worked great, none stripped out and seem to be very sturdy.

The nuts seem to be fine, we will see how they take weather. My only complaint is that Amazon shipped a container of bolts, and a container of nuts, in a padded envelope. Then sent a bag of washers in an 6x8x10 inch box. Thought the box was empty because the washers had slid under a bottom flap. And both the containers with bolts and nuts were crushed because the envelope gave them no protection. Too bad, I was planning on using the containers to keep the hardware organized, but now they are trashed and I have to find a compartment for the hardware.
