Bought this over other portable ACs to use the heater mode in the winter. Once the cooler weather came around, it didn't really serve its purpose as there was a draft coming in from the way the window opens to fit the AC hose so I didn't end up using it through the winter. I still have it 4 stars as the cooling function is very effective, the fan mode is quiet and the convenience of the app control is great.

This unit has been working well for us for the entire past summer. Our weather has been unusually hot this year so it has been put to good use. I also really appreciate the unit’s size. It fits well into our room and (bonus) is relatively attractive.

I love this a/c, this is my first Costway, I bought many brands through the years and this is by far the most efficient portable a/c. I got the 12,000btu for a large room full of windows and it does the job no problem. I can control it from my phone, which is awesome.I highly recommend this unit.

Works well but the horrible noises are buzzing and banging especially when in heat mode. I would recommend this AC for anywhere except your bedroom - you'll have a hard time going to sleep and it WILL WAKE YOU UP WITH THE BANGING. Also the remote control is HORRIBLE you have to have it exactly pointed at the middle of the AC and there's no LED LIGHT on it which there is on my Arctic King AC so you can read it in the dark.I returned mine but I'm giving 4 stars just because of how easy it was to deal with Costway. They were friendly and paid for return shipping and immediatly refunded my money. +Costway

The unit was easy to unpack and setup. The unit works fast to cool and has good flow rate to cool a large area in short time. I had an issue with the delivery of the item, which was rectified promptly by their customer service.

The Portable Air Conditioner worked great for one summer but when we had a heat wave this past May, the unit did not work. It only worked like a fan - No cold air being generated. I looked up what the problem may be in the internet and it said to clean the filters. The air filters were clean but I gave it a cleaning anyways. Still no cold air. Some sites said to clean the Evaporator and Water Condensor with a toothbrush. I took the cover off the unit and found that the Evaporator or it could have been the Water Condensor had a dent in the middle and the fins were damaged. This is the first time I took the cover off the unit. Someone who put this unit together at the factory must have put this defective part in or it was a refurbished unit. I checked the Condenser that activated the Compressor anyways and it worked fine. I thought I had just wasted $600.00 for a faulty Portable Air Conditioner. 1 star is for the Costway Portable Air Conditioner. The story is not over.I give 5+ Stars to Amazon. I contacted Amazon and they could not have been more helpful. They told me that they would contacted Costway for me. Costway told Amazon that the warranty was expired. There apparently was just a 6 month warranty. Amazon went back to Costway to ask them to make an exception. Amazon told me not to worry because even if Costway did not refund my money, Amazon would give me a refund. I guess Amazon's appeal worked because I was told to send the unit back to Costway and Amazon issued me a refund. I don't know if Home Depot, Lowes or any other stores would have done what Amazon did. Amazon, you're the best.

The COSTWAY Portable Air Conditioner 9000 BTU has only been in my hands for a week, but I am already quite happy with it, ideal for chilling spaces. Even at its greatest fan speed, the device runs quietly, making it ideal for usage at night or during the day. The sleep mode, which gradually modifies the temperature to provide a cozy sleeping environment, is also something I love. I program the device to turn on or off at particular times using the useful 24-hour timer feature. The remote control is also quite useful for remotely changing the fan speed or the temperature, in my opinion.

I love this portable unit. This looks pretty cool and does its job. I am living in a 2600 sqft house and have 4 rooms. I am living in south California. The electric bill is over $400 in the last summer for using the central AC...Then I am thinking to buy a portable AC in my room to save some money..I know the AC will be out of stock when summer comes so I decide to buy it earlier..Well this one is more powerful than I thought, cool enough, and wind pretty strong..It comes with a remote and also a console on the machine to adjust the wind and temp. The noise is acceptable to me. I will try this a few more days and maybe buy one more for another room. Yay!

It works well, and the auto evaporator is very handy. We've used it a lot and we drained it after a month or so, and it still wasn't completely full of water. It's just a bit too loud to sleep with the AC or Dry function on, but you can sleep if you change it to fan. Overall a good purchase.

I did a lot of research on this product and it's competitors. The first thing you will discover is the reviews overall are not good.The castaway is very noisy, but we've been able to deal with that. The hose and connections are flimsy and it's difficult to mount on your window, the kit is flimsy, I had to use a lot of gorilla tape to help me.We use it in our bedroom and it does keep it very cool at 72 degrees which is the setting. My bedroom is 15 x12, 180 sq feet, it's more than adequate I should have bought a smaller unit but didn't understand the cooling capacity, 8,000 BTU would have been more than ample. I might buy a second unit that's smaller and move my current unit to the living room. I keep the bedroom door closed because I don't want to push the capacity of the unit, I might give it a try. It does a great job taking the humidity out of the room just make sure to set it up for a continuous drip pan. If you dehumidify the room first, it will take a lot less cooling but the de humid fills up in two hours.

Having living in the downtown area in Boston, I had been having a hard time studying and working from home during the summer because my apartment is very old and doesn’t have any air conditioning system. As a tenant, I don’t have options to make adjustments in the house, like window or wall-mounted air conditioners, and the fans weren’t helpful et al. While browsing on Amazon, I came across this portable air conditioner and thought why not give it a try since I don’t need to make any adjustments in the house which could cause a problem with my landlord. It arrived in a properly packed box with everything in it ( window kit, hose, etc) and took me 15-20 minutes to set it up without using any tools( not even a screw-driver) . It works pretty good. In the sleep mode, it is very silent, and the remote control makes it very convenient.

it puts out cool air and takes time to cool down area. Not very forceful air flow but did cool room almost in general location. The window attachment is way long for my windows and the length is not mentioned in info on website. No foam seal or brackets to attach to anything so the hose frame assembly relies on window and enginuity of owner to get it in place and sealed from outside inside air mixing. My frame to which the exhaust corrugated hose attachment fits is cracked apart from end in curved slide 8 inches across this frame so am being careful not to make it worse since the other solid slide piece can't be used in my window. Heavy and awkward to push around if you need to do so. Won't move on pile carpet well at all. My carpet is indoor/outdoor carpet on cement floor so rolls with a bit of effort. This has to do for now as can't afford to get another or send this back as box it came in is shot to heck from getting it out in the first place and can't lift it to get it wrapped in car to take to USPS, UPS or Fedex to return. Since does put out cool air and can cool my room to where my piano will be okay, must use. DISAPPOINTED in so many ways in what claimed and what it does.Instructions say the corrugated pipe is attached to the other parts to attach it to the machine and window slide but not so and was hard to get it attached to them. Used metal duct tape for HVAC. Hose too short if have High window seals like in a garden level or basement or just height at chest level like mine.

I got 100 today and can’t wait to open my new portable air conditioner. It is really simple to put all the pieces together. And it is so nice to have wheels that I can move around more convenience otherwise it is too heavy. I like that so far because the AC is not loud while it works. I also like that has AC mode and Fan mode.east to control even my two year old. I put it in the dinning room and it cool fast than my old air conditioner. Good choice this time.
