For its intended purpose this has the look and feel of a well-made water heating element. I am not familiar with the tri-clamp design, but as someone who has replaced more than a few 4-cap-screw flange mounted water heater elements during my apartment maintenance days, this is engineering progress to be sure.I have gradually been reinventing methods for testing power tool batteries, in the spirit of, "Make do with what you have." 20-volt batteries to be specific. I know there are devices for performing these tests, but what would be the fun in that?With this particular heating element, a 20v DC current produces a1.5-amp load that is steady and silent. It did not take long to discover that at a mere 30 watts, it is prudent to immerse this heater element in water for the several hours it takes to safely discharge a test battery.I'll spare you the technical details, but this has been progress for me. Which is what I'm looking for.I am well pleased with this find.
