My battery for my dewalt drill lasted for several years. Never over charged. I set timer to the appropriate time required to charge.

I purchased this as a backup for my drill and driver set. It's nice to have an extra so one can be charging while using the others. Thus eliminates downtime while waiting for the battery to recharge. Prior to getting the battery I was always waiting for the battery to charge. It's no longer an issue.
