It is basically a good solid unit (MEISTERFAKTUR drain snake 2.0, Amazon keeps lumping different units together in reviews). Maybe I'm just plain foolish but, I expected the gloves that came with this to be waterproof, since we are dealing with sewer backups. The gloves are not even close to being waterproof, they don't even attempt to be. They need to find a better way to keep the handle on the unit. There is a thumb screw that is used to tighten against the cable and it keeps the handle from sliding off. Using a drill to spin the unit causes lots of vibration which can cause the screw to loosen. There were 3 times it came loose and slid down the snake into the drain pipe. The first 2 times, toilet paper on the snake kept the clamp from sliding further. The 3rd time the snake came back out without any paper on it. The clamp slid off the snake dropped to the bottom of the drain pipe. I have some small, very powerful, magnets that I took out of old hard drives. I used a tiny piece of one on the end of the snake to recover the clamp. I'll probably try gluing the clamp onto the shaft to keep it from happening again. It's a small thing but they could easily keep it from happening with a minor manufacturing change.There is a small shaft the sticks up on top of the unit for attaching a power drill, it's only about 18" inch in diameter and an inch in length. My only problem with it is that when I am holding the handle in my left handle and turning the "spin" knob with my right hand, that little shaft gets in the way and my wrist keeps hitting it. I would prefer the shaft to be removed and to have a hex hole in place of it into which you could use a hex bit to attache the drill.My old 25' snake had a better end on the snake, it was a bit bigger. The end on this new snake is only about 38" in diameter and doesn't grab onto stuff as well as it could. I added the extra wire to d a better job of cleaning out the 4" dia. drain pipe going out to the septic tank.Most of the unit is very well built. My main concern is the longevity of the black handle and the thumbscrew and clamp that hold the handle on. Very minor changes would easily make this a 5 Star unit.

I liked the quality of the product.The snake did come out of it's shell at 50 though.The snake performed as it should for the task at hand.

I had a persistent clogged kitchen sink drain. 2 bottles of Drano always cleared it just enough. But within a month, it would be clogged again. I thought I was going overboard with the length of this one. Nope, used 40, maybe even 45 feet of this, before finding and clearing the blockage. Been cleared for a year now. Maybe kind of expensive since I only used it once. but how much did I save using this over having to call a plumber?

Needed 50ft which was not available most places , did not like the thumb screw to lock the cable , this will not last long , thankfully I will not need to use this often

The Manufacturer of this Relatively Fragile, Very Heavy piece of Equipment failed to supply a storage/Shipping box that would adequately protect the Snake.A Box with Form Fitting Styrofoam is necessary or Amazon cannot be held responsible for any shipment failure. The item is just too fragile for Amazon and the Manufacturer should know this.THIS IS NOT A SHIPPING ISSUE. IT IS LACK OF A PROPER FORM FITTING CONTAINER BEING PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR USE/SHIPMENT TO PROTECT THE DELICATE EQUIPMENT.

It seems like it’s well made but it’s not. The tip of the cable broke off some 25 feet into the pipe the first time I used the snake and now I have an even bigger problem because of this cheap thing. I have snaked pipes many times; in this case it was just some maintenance for a slow kitchen drain, I was not abusing or forcing it. Definitely do not recommend unless you want a bigger problem.

I only used this item to clear a small blockage and didnt go fsr to do so. Went to use again for another blockage and it was stiff and hard to use unlike the first time. Ive oiled it up and hoping for a different experience next time. UPDATE: No change in flexibility. Very disapointed to buy a disposable tool for this price
