So I had my old Minn Kota 45 lock up on me a couple of weeks ago I ordered this unit to replace it and I'm not super impressed. I do like the fact that the control handle has a flat part on it so that you can feel when your in neutral. As far as being 46 lbs of thrust, I'm not anywhere near convinced of that, my old Minn Kota before it locked up would push my boat at 3.2 mph across the water, with this motor I'm lucky to hit 3 mph and that's with a 6 mph tail wind. Now that being said, I'm not racing someone to get to my fishing hole, so speed is not that big of an issue. I still gave it 4 stars because overall for the money this is around half the price of a Minn Kota. I like the meter on the top for a battery monitor, but in the direct sun you'll never see it. The control lever is smooth and has operated flawlessly , and like I said it has more of a triangular handle on it so when you neutral up you can kinda feel it without looking at it.

I've only had this out on the water once but this thing pushes my 12 ft v hull around in the water with extreme ease. for the moment it's my main mode of propulsion and it does really well.the reverse works very wellthe 5 forward speeds are awesomei don't have a speedometer to measure sped but it feels like it pushes me about 3 or 4 mph this is at max setting 5if you're between this and a minkota try this out it's way less and if you're a tinkerer there are ways to make this run off a foot pedal or you can go full nerd and buy the iboat setup and it's still less than minkota and has spot lock

after about 10 hours of use the 86lb Goplus trolling motor seems to be well made and powerful. The company that makes this DOES NOT SELL REPLACEMENT PARTS, if your motor is on warranty they'll send new parts free, but the warranty is only valid for two years from the date of manufacture, the trolling motor I received was past the warranty. These motors are designed to go about 4 miles an hour, putting one on a much smaller boat won't make that boat go much faster as the prop will cavitate.

So far it's working like a charm. I bought this motor and a 12V-75AH batteryfor my Intex Excursion 5. I felt that a 30 lb. motor wouldn't be powerful enough, and a 55 lb. motor would put too much stress on the rear of the boat. I decided to split the difference to go with this 46 lb. I took the boat out with two of my friends for a few hours. The total passenger weight was about 510 lbs. and we cruised the Delaware River at a decent clip. The boat itself is made for up to 5 passengers with a total weight of 1300 lbs. Nothing to do with the motor, but I initially had it too low in the water whick made it much slower. After some online searching with my phone, the props should be 10"-12" below the surface of the water. I made the adjustment and we were cruising. I guess longevity will be the real test, but for now this motor is a winner. Not to mention it's less expensive than the top name brands.
