About this item

  • Improved Robust RF Field Strength: The distance between the detector and receiver has been significantly increased without the need for a repeater
  • Smart Check: A signal is sent to the control panel when the detector requires cleaning. This allows a regular nonemergency service call to clean the detector before it goes into alarm.
  • Approved UL Listings for Residential and Commercial Applications: Both residential and commercial installation requirements are met
  • Additional LED Status Indicators: Identifying between alarm or trouble conditions is a snap with green and red LED status indicators. A green LED denotes a normal condition while the red LED indicates abnormal conditions.
  • Easy to install Mounting Base: The sturdy mounting base allows the detector to be more easily installed on uneven surfaces (i.e. stucco). The mounting base has larger mounting ports which accommodate drywall anchors for easy surface mounting.

Honeywells 5808W3 is a 3V lithium powered, photoelectronic smoke/heat detector with a built-in wireless transmitter. It is intended for use with any 5800 Series Wireless Receiver/Transceiver for residential installations (for commercial installations, the 5881ENHC or the 5883H receiver is required).
The transmitter can send alarm, tamper, maintenance (when control panels are equipped to process maintenance signals), and battery condition messages to the systems receiver. Smoothing algorithms minimize nuisance alarms by smoothing out short term spikes from dust and smoke, virtually eliminating nuisance alarms.
Since there are no holes to drill or wires to run, you can preserve the beauty of the building while protecting it. The 5808W3 is an ideal smoke detector for those difficult to wire locations, applications where room aesthetics are critical, or where hazardous materials exist.
All models also feature a restorable, builtin, fixed temperature (135F) thermal detector that is also capable of sensing a pre-freeze condition if the temperature is below 41F.

This is an expensive smoke detector. But, it is worth the money because it ties into my alarm system. Besides smoke it is also a temperature detector. It will let my alarm company know if it gets below freezing or if it gets too hot. I had a regular smoke detector, but it is in my little place in the country, so if it went off when I was not there no one would know. Now, with it hooked in to my alarm system I will be notified if it ever goes off where ever I am. Piece of mind and safety too.

I have a Honeywell Lyric alarm system in my house. I got this detector to add to my system. We decided to add a smoke detector in the garage because we charge an electric scooter out there and you just never know. It wasn’t code back in 1995 to put a smoke detector in the garage but the more we thought about it we decided it was important to add one there and hence this purchase. It was shipped in one day and I had it programmed and installed in 10 minutes. It came with a CR 123 battery and well written instructions for Installation, programming, set up and maintenance. This is a high quality heat and smoke detector that is NFPA approved and UL listed.

Already had these in my house and they work great but wanted to add more. For the most part easy to install but here are a few tips that helped me:-If your alarm is monitored, be sure to call and have it put on "test".-Some videos say to put your panel in programming mode and then open the cover on the smoke alarm which sends a signal and programs it. In my case it programmed the tamper alarm (opening the cover) as if that were the smoke alarm. It's better to program it manually with the code on the unit.-Keypad programming is not fun on many systems including mine. If you have phone app or computer access to your system, try one of those. It's much easier!

This is a solid product and easy to install into the Lifeshield security system. it took me less than 10 minutes to power the device up and connect it to Lifeshield AND mount the detector!I wanted to ensure that they were tested, so I called Lifeshield and they put my system into test and the units worked perfect.I highly recommend this unit and can confirm that it is compatible with lifeshield.
