The float is connected to the valve with a nylon cord, this operates the pilot valve. When the water drops, the pilot valve is opened & the main diaphragm is activated. Mega flow is a good choice where it's high flow & compact, robust, non-corrosive constructions are beneficial.

DO NOT waste your time on the other top-of-the-trough water valves. They break the moment your cows get the slightest bit of curiosity. Built very well, just learn to tie the correct knot on the float.

I have this valve mounted in the bottom of my drinking trough. This along with a 1500 watt sinking heater. Keeps fresh water for my cattle in freezing weather. In my area. We some times get to 0 Fahrenheit in the extreme. The trough doesn't freeze. The water supply line and cut off. Are in a 2'x2' box that goes about 2' deep in the ground under the trough. A stainless steel braided washing machine hose connects it to the float valve. The trough sits on a concrete pad. Just had to do that because of the mud in wet weather. Trough is next to a barn. That has electric service that works the heater. My only fear is in the event of a power outage. Then it's back to breaking ice. :(

In north texas we have usually several days of temperatures in the 20's or colder. At those temperatures the above water float valve freezes, even though I use a heating tape and pipe insulation. The above water valve also seems to develop leaks due to the variable or high-water pressure. The underwater valve allows most of the water line to lay on the ground, which never freezes. So far so good with the underwater valve.

Fácil de instalar, fácil de conectar, fácil de limpiar, fácil de regular el flotador y además es difícil para qué los animales dañen el flotador

Very nicely made. Drilled a hole opposite the drain plug in a 70 gal Rubbermaid stock tank. The DLT tail that stuck out was just barely long enough for a PVC threaded elbow (Tank was around 1/4" thick). So far no drips. Plan to use to get a swivel in the line. Only possible concern is that the horses will chew on the float (Jobe how would I get a replacement?). Also left the existing drain valve intact. Should be much easier to clean with the valve disconnect feature. This thing is 2-3 times the cost of just buying another RM autofiller. But 24 hours in I'm so impressed by how much more secure the system is. For instance: The hose stays on the ground, The valve makes no sound when it opens (critical for skittish horses), small sound when it closes. It just feels like a much better solution.
