Used it on our homemade boat and it was much more efficient and faster than previous motor. We built a picnic/floating table and added the motor to spice things up and tour our lake.

I have used this Newport Vessels NV-Series 46lb Thrust Saltwater Transom Mounted Trolling motor on my 14 foot aluminum wide hull . This trolling motor works fantastic . You can put your boat into any position you want for fishing and the 3 reverse speeds and 5 forward speeds move the boat right along. Great design and Great communication with the company which is in California USA.I say BUY IT . you will be very happy.

This electric motor is very good. It has plenty of power and is light for its capacity. The battery indicator always stays on. They could have turned it on with a switch. The biggest issue for me is that at speed 1 it's way too fast. On the other hand, between speed 3 and 4 the difference is less obvious. I've only been using it for a month, so hard to say if it will last.

I chose Newport Vessels over the competition due to the great reviews, good customer service record, and features at this price point that the other brand didn't have. I liked the fact that the motor was designed to withstand salt water, eventhough that was not my intended use. It just makes it that much more durable. The ability to monitor your battery and extend the handle if need are great basic features to have. The product arrived on time in it's original box.I purchased a 50 ah sealed gel battery to go with my 11 ft Hydroforce inflatable boat that had the added weight of the aluminum floor. The motor pushed the boat with 2 people (350 lbs) battery and fishing gear with ease. Even when we faced some mild choppy waters. 3 hrs trolling mainly between speed 1 & 2, and having only ran it on the higher speeds a couple of runs to get to shore, I dropped 1 bar on the indicator.I am quite happy with this motor since it performs as well as expected. I would reccomend to anyone starting out or crossing over from the other leading brand. See you on the water !

Had it out on the water twice now and it’s been great. Cheaper than a Minn Kota and seems just as durable. Can’t speak to it’s longevity yet, but so far absolutely no complaints. I’m using it on an 11ft Seahawk 4 dinghy. More than enough power. We’ve been trolling the local lake on speed 1-2. Speed 5 packs some punch, at least for our dinghy.I bought the 10’ extension cables thinking that we would have to balance the boat out with the battery in the front but with my gf at the front of the boat, we haven’t had to use the extension cables. If you’re on a dinghy and going out by yourself, the extension cables might not be a bad idea just to even out the weight a bit. Also, we have a custom wooden floor that the guy I bought the dinghy off of had built. Without it, I would be worried about the battery weight on the soft inflatable floor. Battery weights about 50-60lbs and the wooden floor definitely helps distribute the weight. If you don’t have the tools to craft a custom floor for your dinghy, I would recommend at least finding a 3’ x 3’ piece of plywood to help distribute the weight of the battery.Overall, couldn’t be happier with the trolling motor. Beats the hell out of rowing, it’s imperceptibly quiet, and we’ve pulled more trout out of the lake than we could have without it.

Where do i begin.... I bought this motor for a few reasons. Main being to cross the bay and rowing was just too difficult. Other is the price was decent compared to other brands. I bought the 45 lbs version and using it on a voyager 500 inflatable. I had to manually setup something different to get this motor to fit on that boat with a intex mount ( excursion 5 sold out). I took it in quite extreme winds crossing a bay about 3- 4 kms. So windy that there were times motor would sputter from being outside the water riding the waves. In the end, i made.it there on high setting 5 within 40 mins. I dont know how but it pushed 2 people and gear through it all. Probably around 600 lbs.I definitely recommend this, and im guesisng any of their motors. Also being saltwater was key considering thats my main usage. Just dont skip on the battery. Paid around 200 canadian for a deep cycle battery. One key note, when tightening the propeller, dont tighten it too much. It will bend the pin inside and cause motor to wobble while on.Edit year later- just wanted to add once again, this is key to getting where you want to go. I cant stress enough the importance of a battery. Ive used a deep cycle battery that requires you to maintain distilled water inside to a certain level. It did great, however the waves were so bad in my situation (water ,and most certainly battery acid/electrolytes ) leaked out. Im sure i lost some important part of the fluid i cannot get back. Im going to try a sealed more expensive battery for the conditions i use it in. Double the price however for a raft, unless you have a stable floor with a board, i recommend sealed battery. Also considering buying extra pin and propeller set. This is extremely important as the pin will break if you hit a rock. This is designed to save your propeller from snapping. However you wont be able to move after that pin breaks. Invest in spare parts if youre out far from land like i do.
