The heater is built for use with 120 volts AC, drawing 1 amp thus producing 120 watts. It has a preset thermostat set to maintain a maximum temperature up to 145 ºF / 63 ºC (± 10 ºF/5 ºC). The PBL05 band-style pail heaters allow you to safely control the temperature of expensive chemicals and other fluids; it delivers a barrier of uniform directional heat where it’s needed most – preventing fluids from freezing and maintaining optimal temperatures. This innovative heat-spreading technology insulates, protects and maintains heat in a wide variety of applications. And it's certified by ETL to UL & CSA safety standards.

I bought this to keep a bucket of warm water for my tile saw when cutting outside in winter. Just filling a bucket with water and putting on the blanket is not enough because it takes too long to heat up and, if it is really cold outside, it doesn't really heat up at all. Also the single strap is oriented near the "top" of the blanket. This doesn't work really well as most buckets are tapered toward the bottom, so having the strap more towards the top leaves space between the bucket and blanket as you go toward the bottom...dumb. So I installed it upside down so it have better contact with the bucket and it seemed to work better, but still takes very long to heat up in cold weather. I then wrapped a cargo strap around it and it improved. Once heated it will maintain pretty good temp. So if you need hot water right away, forget it. I just get hot water from the house and use the blanket to keep it warm. Also, it really needs two straps not just one and the cord is very very short. Worked great for what I needed ONCE I MADE MY OWN CORRECTIONS, but expected a much better product for the price and from a brand that is a leader in heating blankets. There are other similar products that accomplish the same and are cheaper. This same exact product is cheaper under a different name, WarmGuard. I will look elsewhere next time.

Works exactly as expected. Very simple to use. Would be a much better product if it had two cinch straps instead of just the one.

In the fall I noticed it warming my propane tank very well, used it last night @ - 17c and it felt as if it was barely working. Only been used 2 maybe 3 times. Worked at first. Junk find a different company.

I bought 2 of these for copper and nickel plating and they worked really well. So I bought a third one to be able to pre-heat my degreaser bath. Sadly the third one didn't heat very well at all, thought maybe there was a break in period but after 2 weeks it still wasn't anywhere close to the other two. I got a replacement coming, no harm no foul. It's not going to boil the water, as long as the container is closed it should heat it up to at least 100 or so degrees.

I'm actually using this to heat water in a bucket for showering. I have to do without a water for a while as I correct what turned out to be a horrible install job by a contractor about a month ago. Because of my schedule it's taken me several weeks, working an hour here and and an hour there, to work through it..This heater blanket appealed to me because of the low power consumption, making it safer to leave plugged in without monitoring, which I couldn't ever do with one of those 1000W submersion heaters. It takes a long time to heat the water, but as I shower in the morning and my wife in the evening, it works out. I am using this with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IFHFJXI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Taking a shower with just five gallons of water isn't the best, but I have learned that it can be done.

Edited to add: I was able to get it a little tighter, but it still slips off when you move the bucket. The buckle should have been attached the opposite way so you don't have to pull away from it, to tighten. This does not fit snuggly around a 5 gallon bucket. I placed it as tight as it would go and it is still loose. If you need to move the bucket, it falls off when you pick up the bucket. It does melt the items in the bucket, but I think it could definitely use some improvement to make it fit tighter.I wanted to contact the company directly, to discuss my issue, but was unsuccessful in finding a way to contact them via Amazon. Maybe I should just return it.

This Powerblanket unit is nicely made and works well. It gets to temperature quickly and maintains it. The heat seems to be pretty evenly distributed across the "inside" surface. That's why I'm giving it 4 stars - initial performance. My only complaint is that contrary to the photo that accompanies this listing, the cord on the one we received protrudes from near the top of the end of the blanket. It makes no sense at all and the cord hangs down (gravity works that way) to where we have it connected to a heavy-duty extension cord. The weight of the unit's own cord is pulling down on that connection where it goes into the edge of the blanket. It's an obvious weak point and I'm sure is going to cause a short over time due to the continuous (and unnecessary) bend and hanging cord. There's no need for this. The blanket is supposed to be used in an 'upright' position around a bucket. The cord should come out of the blanket at the BOTTOM edge of the blanket's end, near the "skirt", not from the top edge.We just ordered a second unit and it will be interesting to see if the cord on the new one comes out of a different spot.
