This product is for use on inclined, tab-shingle roofs and in downspouts and gutters only. To ensure water can flow to the ground, cable should be installed on unheated portions of the roof (usually the overhang) as well as in valleys, gutter and downspouts. Roof and gutter de-icing kits are available in lengths from 30 ft to 240 ft. These products are found as de-icing and snow melting sets primarily in northern markets beginning in early october.

I had an issue with icing building on one side of the ice causing water to get in. Since I have install this product 3 years ago it is still working and I did not had any water inside. Thanks for this product, it save me a lot of trouble.

Unfortunately, I don’t have an outside outlet nearby and need to have an electrician install one before I can use this. Will definitely reorder, hopefully the price is the same or better, after outlet’s installed.

Keeps the snow melted off the protected area. Run a line down your eaves trough to kep the ice from clogging up the drain

We plugged this item in when we received it and it seemed fine and then when we needed it in the spring it was no longer working. I would like to contact the seller but apparently its too late. We didn't have a need for it until the spring, so had no idea it wasn't working properly.

I used this to keep water lines from freezing. The use-stated products are far more pricey, but this product does the job perfectly. I wrapped the water lines in tubular insulation and have not had any issues with freezing. Definitely recommended for my purposes.

The only thing I would caution people about with this item is be sure to check the length of it. We only needed it for one downspout so really don't need 100 feet. There are shorter lengths of this. It works very well and solved our problem of having to chic ice out of our downspout at our business. ours is an open downspout. It's a little tricky to get it tight enough to lay against the metal. We forced small rods in the downspout to hold the wire against firmly. All in all it is a good product with the simple plug in to any outdoor outlet.

With all the snow, we developed a terrible ice dam. We should have been more vigilant about removing the snow in the first place, but weren't. One day about a month ago it was raining. Well we ended up having water leak into an interior wall around a window, which are now planning to pull dry wall out to ensure no serious water damage. We bought this with hope it would melt the ice on our roof before more rain was due which was last weekend. We had about 3 inches thick of ice built up in one area extending up the roof line about 25 ft x 2 ft. This thing worked great. Granted (we have easy access to roof and it is a low slope) I did have to get on the roof multiple times to break up ice, throw it off the roof and move cord around, but the ice was completely melted in 8 hours. It is now on roof and we can just plug it in when needed. If we continue to have terrible winters as this one, I foresee us probably purchasing another one.

Great cables and gets the job done. It will heat up little channels in the gutter so water can flow and drain. The only issue is you have to unwind it properly (unwind it all and lay out flat before install) or you get one big tangled ball.Note: Roofing contractor advice, heat lines do not correct the initial issue of ice damming,it helps relieve minimal amounts of ice. Ice damming is caused by improper air flow in the attic.
