I purchased this bell to be our dinner bell and hang outside the door at my beach house. The house is built on stilts andI didn't like having to run downstairs just to get everyone upstairs to eat. It's so pretty and has quite a loud ring that effectively works. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of three is because although the bell itself is aluminum and will not rust, the ring that holds the clapper is some other sort of metal that had already started to rust. Rust is a big issue at the beach. My husband did paint the ring hoping to delay any further rusting but will have to do it often to maintain it.

Sharp looking bell. Very loud!!! Simple to install with a few screws (not included). The rope handle that is used to ring the bell could be better. It gets dirty very easily and the bottom of it came undone. I had to tie the loose ends to ensure it didn't come apart. You may be able to replace the handle with something else since just a metal ring holds it on. Overall, I like the bell, just wish the handle was better.

This bell is unbelievable for the price. It is well made, and has a clean, clear tone.I got it for my daughters tree house. She loves ringing it!You will need some screws to mount it, and probably an extra set of hands to hold the bell up as you screw in the mount.It is aluminum, so it will not rust like a cast iron bell. It won't even tarnish like a brass bell. Perfect, no maintenance, for outdoors.The rope handle was dirty and kind of gross. But, it is an outdoor bell. It's going to get dirty. I don't mind.

I bought this for my home garage gym. Legend has it that the Navy Seals have a bell at training camp for new recruits. If the training is too hard and you want to quit, you ring the bell and you are out. My workouts aren't quite as intense as the Navy Seals but I liked the symbolism.In any case, the quality of this bell is shocking for the price. I'm not exactly an expert on bells but there isn't much you can buy these days for as low a price as this and expect to get quality. It is attractive looking and the sound quality is great (I know this only from testing it out -- haven't quit yet!).If you need a bell for whatever reason and like the style of this one, go for it.
