This emergency car kit is not of the highest quality, but it effectively offers the basic necessities with a few extras at a decent price point.WHAT YOU GETThis kit is housed in a zippered case that measures approximately 14” x 10 ½” x 5 ½”. The kit includes a wide variety of items designed to cover an equally wide variety of needs: snow scraper, tire repair tool/kit, reflective vest, tool box (w/ hammer, screwdriver, measuring tape, pliers, Allen wrenches, bits, hammer and even electrical tape), first aid kit (bandages, whistle, gauze, alcohol wipes, tourniquet, emergency mylar blanket), glass breaker/seatbelt cutter, tow strap, jumper cables (10 ft), reflective triangle, rain poncho, no battery flashlight, and gloves.USEFULLNESS AND QUALITYAt first glance, this emergency kit is obnoxious in that almost all components are glaringly pink and generate a toy-like, non-serious vibe. However, this kit addresses a wide range of needs in a convenient and somewhat compact manner. While I’ve assembled my own emergency kit for my XTerra, everything was acquired individually, and most components are probably a little over-the-top as my vehicle takes the role of the Mothership. Since my daughter started driving, I felt she needed a one-stop-shop array of tools to cover general emergencies and needs … this kit does exactly that.I would consider the jumper cables, tow-strap, first aid kit, glass-breaker/seatbelt cutter, flashlight and snow scraper to be the core essentials of any kit. Most of these items are not high quality, but definitely pass the better-than-nothing test to get you out of a sticky situation. I find the 10 ft. jump cables adequate in terms of construction and length. The tow-strap is a little short and thin, but should endure in a scenario where a modest tug is all that is needed. I generally prefer tow-straps with looped-ends rather than metal hooks. The first-aid kit covers bare minimum basics, but for most situations, this is all you’ll need. The glass breaker/belt cutter is something that is important and useful, but I think it is a tool that requires ultra convenient and ready access for practical use. The scraper is rather small and lightweight, but effective enough. And the flashlight I found quite interesting as it uses a squeeze-grip cranking mechanism to power on. I found this a little weird at first, but it generates enough power to generate a fair amount of light for a decent length of time. The other items in the kit are convenient extras that add value to the basic tools. The little tool kit is simply handy and has its own set of basics covered by the number of tools it contains, the bits and Allen set. Additionally, things like gloves, rain poncho, reflector warning triangle, and reflective vest are nice features that add value.Another nice feature is that everything provided is stored in a convenient, durable zippered bag that opens fully for an easy view and access to its contents.Overall, I found this kit to be an economical solution to cover the most common road emergencies and inconveniences. I could do without the neon pink theme but cannot complain about the basic components. If anything, this is a great starter emergency kit at a good price. You can always enhance or replace the items with higher quality components if necessary.
