They require a firm step to locate the boot pin in the latch, but turning the lock will latch it easily.The turning device makes stepping out easier that the pole push release.Be careful to fully align the latch.Also, pay attention to the sliding black lock release when locating the bindings onto the integrated foot plate. The pins are easy to lift out of the way when the black slide is pushed toward the pins, then released when in place..
