This was one of the last pieces needed for my setup. It is lightweight but super solid carbon fiber. Easy to open and setup to shade the sun. Also comes with all the popular sized rings needed to screw onto your camera lens. Simple single screw thats mounted onto the matte box to tighten down to the trim ring to mount it to the camera lens. folds up and easy to store. comes with a velveteen bag.

This matte box has a major flaw: it is nearly impossible to install the filter trays properly without using a lot of force, which of course you do not want to use around a 300 dollar filter and a 3000 dollar lens. The problem is the design: you need to slide two plastic trays together with a lot of friction, and the locking device--a set of tiny plastic tabs--do not fit each other well. I'll be sending it back and spending more on something better and useful. This flaw makes it nearly impossible to change filters in the field, which of course ruins the point of this product.

Good quality production. Had to get used to the stiff slide in click and unlick of the frames. I wish the top shade would be mounted left and right on top. When mounted to my DJI RS3 Gimbal the top shade tends to vibrate due to it's single mounting point in the center, allowing the side corners of the shade to shake. Other than that this Matte box is perfect. Using Neewer ND Filters and it holds it perfectly. Love the quick mount rings and option which makes it easy to swap the box from one lens to another within seconds.

It's nearly impossible to keep the slide panels locked in placed or removed. This ruins the entire product. I regret not testing this more but I didn't buy the 4x5.6 ND filter in time to test. Update: if you keep connecting the parts eventually they loosen and work. Very stiff at first but seems better, not optimal but the other parts to this make it worth it somewhat.

Every now and then I get impressed with a bit of gear. I am impressed with this matte box. I shoot in the wind, rain, snow. I lug gear on my back, on a pack animal and in my hand. Swamp, desert, rain forest, glacier, and studio. This box scores home runs in weight, ruggedness, compactness, versatility, and it actually blocks the un-wanted light. Filter change and access is reliable and quick. Today the snowflakes (water type) were working hard to attach themselves to the lens, the French flags made it difficult for them. If you need a tax deduction, buy several. If you want a versatile and effective matte box where ROI rules this is the one.

I used Smallrigs products before and they worked well, but this matte box is a garbage product that you should avoid at all cost. The quality of construction is cheap and the plastic filter trays do not fit well in position. They do not clip well together and that is unacceptable. You don't want a cheap matte box that will break easily. Get one that is more expensive, but of better quality and that works. You get what you pay for.

The Mini Matte Box is very well made with quality materials, would have given it 5 stars all the way if didn't cheap out on the adapter rings. The adapter rings are very hard to screw in, I tried on many lenses with the same results, I have some High end filters and they are so easy to screw in compare to the SmallRig adapters.I wish they made the adapter rings with better quality materials ( like brass ) and sold them individually.

Just got the matte box. The price is excellent, and it's very light, but sadly that's where the good things stop. The matte box feels flimsy. It's made of quite thin and flexible plastic including the filter trays, and the filter tray system needs the entire front (the part that holds the flags) to be removed to add or subtract filters. I'd be very nervous putting any decent filters in those trays. I'd probably just return it and buy something better, except I'm fairly sure because I opened the box, amazon won't let me.
