Without a doubt this camera is everything I wanted it to be and could even go further to say it’s exceeded my anticipated expectations!Love all of its features including the built-in cooling system, recording lights, built-in stabilization, and more amazing components.Being that this was my first big purchase for a cinema line camera, I love the fact that it’s easy to learn your way around its controls and how it’s intended for filmmakers with having that extra option of shooting great photos! (Let’s not forget it’s exceptional low-light performance)Overall, great camera and worth its investment if you’re trying to upgrade your arsenal.

I purchased an Sony FX3 for my son who is in film school and uses the schools FX3. From the moment it arrived it did not work properly. ISO, focus and f stop, first thing my son said "does not work like one at school". After a few days the centre lens pin (#5 in the middle of 10) broke off. Lens was a $1100 Tamron 28 to 75 (purchased from Amazon). Given it was a third party seller and not Amazon selling the camera, you are at the mercy of that seller. BTW that would be all the FX3's on Amazon.ca. All I can say is they didn't believe me saying it was the lens because it's not a Sony lens. The camera sent back to a third party repair centre. It cost aprox $500 to fix and said this 7 day old camera is not covered under warranty! They refunded me cost of camera MINUS the repair. We have since purchased another FX3 from Best Buy, and using the same Tamron lens all is good after a month. Oh everything works perfectly with new camera out of the box ISO, focus and f stop. Conclusion: IF camera is sold from Amazon it's not a problem, IF SOLD FROM SMALL THIRD PARTY STORE **DON'T BUY IT** If anything goes wrong your out of luck. Amazon washed there hands in this, said not our problem. Oh and Amazon extra warranty only covers the repair OVER 20% of camera cost, in other words first $1000 is out of your pocket for this camera, what's the point of getting it?

Many times it’s required to put the FX3 into a filming rig or a cage.Doing so can clause wear and tear on the HDMI port door, or not allowed to let the door open completely which is not only inconvenient makes it unusable.I know Sony camera before whether it’s the FX6 or any of the Alpha series cameras this has not been an issue! To remove the HDMI door you have to remove five screws!Four of the screws are not a concern, however…The fifth and main screw that holds the HDMI port housing is put in with Loctite!Which requires the customer to either strip the screw whitch will null and voids the warranty or have to send it across Canada to the only repair shop!Shipping cost from Vancouver to Ontario doesn’t seem so bad until you added insurance $2.75 per hundred dollarsAt $5000 insurance the shipping cost $150, just to have a technician removed one screw…As a long time user and supporter of Sony I find this absolutely ridiculous!(PS I am a technician that works on electronics)

Pixel mapping helps to get rid of hot pixels (red in my case) but they keep coming back all the time.Batter is not fully charging all the time. Sometimes it is stuck in 80Will get another unit and see.But the picture quality and ergonomics are insane.

Coming from the Blackmagic pocket 4k I thought I would enjoy the connivence of better battery life, amazing autofocus and smaller form factor. The colour science with slog-3 was a let down as well as the overly digital look it had. The biggest factor for me was the chroma noise in the shadows, I figured the 10bit codec would be good enough for this but it was not. I really wanted to like this camera. You also have to stick to the native iso's(640 &12,800) otherwise there's some pretty nasty noise that isn't natural/filmic looking as it's de-noised internally and you can't turn off de-noising.
