We have had the collar for 3 months and it no longer works. It shows as fully charged but doesn't light up the tester that came with the collar, absolutely nothing happens when the dog is barking his head off while wearing it. However, even when brand new the collar rarely recognized a bark to give a shock anyway. Have had better results with vibration collars at 1/3 of the cost, unfortunately one dog is not bothered by vibration at all which is why we attempted to upgrade to this. And not that it matters since the collar doesn't work, but if it did the latch is also incredibly inconvenient to get on and off. Especially for a collar that needs to be removed often to charge and not give sores. It should be a clip.

SportDOG NoBark SBC-R Bark Collar. We have 8 dogs, YES eight Australian Kelpies. We work sheep, cattle and the older crew work ducks. You can imagine the chaos that might occur when they get yapping in the yard pen. Now let me make this very clear, we do not use these collars for herding or when they are working, only at rest times. We have tried other bark suppression devices but none were appropriate. We cheeped out and bought replaceable battery operated collars. BIG MISTAKE!!! When one barks they all get a correction because they were triggered by noise. We felt so sorry and ashamed because it was unfair. We called PetSafe representative as we have training collars registered with them and explained our concerns. They were amazing with the understanding and knowledge of what it was we had been going through. They recommend the SBC-R from SportDOG as they are a sister company and all accounts are connected so warranty would be added to our account easily. The SBC-R has three different modes to choose from. We typically use the progressive mode. You as a dog owner will appreciate the fact that these units DO NOT trigger from other barking or noises around them. How do we know for sure?? Well we have four (4) separate units in our clan on at the same time. We have watched as three were side by side our youngest started whining and barking and then yipped as the correction was administered. The other two looked around as if to say what happened? They did not get a correction. So yes it’s true they are independent of each other. The technology works. It has been two days now and the wife and I have to keep checking the yard pen to make sure they are still there. LOL. The peace and quiet is one thing but honestly the biggest thing for us is the stress, anxiety and frustration between us because we no longer have to worry about yelling and screaming at them to SHUTUP, BE QUIET, ENOUGH BARKING and of course NOoooo!!!I will admit the cost was a bit of a shock at first but when we looked back at we paid out previously on all the lesser devices and failed attempts at bark control, we could have paid for these devices twice over. Now you can say yeah these people are being paid to say this… You would be ohhh so wrong. We offer this review simply because we don’t want other to waste time and money on the crap we did.You cannot put a price on the peace of mind we have by choosing the SBC-R NoBark Collar.

First collar died after 1month, died after charging it up.The charge lasted for that whole month and after it was charged up it got glitchy and stopped working. There is a year warranty and amazon accepted a return/replacement thankfully. The price of the collar should indicated quality but I am on the fence. We got our replacement and we will see how long this one lasts. My dog didn't even bark much with it on, it works well. The Collar: It works very well, and compared to a few other collars i have tried this one works the best and is very effective and assisting in training your dog. Care and caution should always be used. The automatic setting works ok. It slowly increases to your dogs level of choice. The difference: This collar compared to other collars works.Other collars don't seem as quick as this collar. This collar should catch your dog mid bark. So it will train your dog better. After a short while, My dog started to test out what he was allowed to do with the collar on. Tried growls, little barks, all different kinds. He learned very quickly and now even without the collar on he has improved a lot! Still more training to do. He is very smart so the ability of your dog learning is based on their intelligence and especially your care and effort to help train.Other collars do not have the response and fail to indicate to the dog what is not wanted. Now if you have all the time in the world, you could train your dog without the collar.Hopefully the quality is good and I got an unlucky first order. This is why 4 stars.

Amazing collar, worked on my dog as everytime I would leave the house she would get severe separation anxiety. She would try to get out of the kennel and we upgraded the kennel but the destructive behaviour continued. This collar senses her barks and starts slowly (shocking) and keeps going up a notch until she calms down. I've used it since June 9th... she is calm the moment she enters the kennel... no anxiety... battery life is excellent. It shows 3 bars which today is the first day it went to 1 bar and I have not charged it yet. I used to put it on her at bedtime as well but now she just goes in with no problem as she has learned good behaviour. I only have to use it when at work and have a camera on the kennel which shows her sleeping. I have on occasion forgotten to put it on her (right after I bought this collar) and she was exhibiting high anxiety and destructive behaviour. This collar saved her and my sanity! Well worth the price.

When it works it seems to work well. However , the device doesn’t seem to work well consistently . The learning mode and the ramp mode do not seem to work. So I keep it on the manual set mode and have it set at 10 the highest level to even have a sight effect on my dog. Even then the static correction isn’t consistent. I am a little disappointed in the product especially with the price being what it was. My dog is a young Viszlas which doesn’t have much fur so I thought it would’ve been more effective. So over all I’m Disappointed !

We are SO pleased with this bark collar! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. We've had it for a few months now. We adopted our 2 year old great dane when she was 6 months old. Her nuisance barking has improved since we adopted her, but was still a problem that we had not been able to remedy with training or other bark deterrent products. She would not only stand at the fence and bark at people and dogs who walk past our house, but when we invite guests into our home she would bark at them for up to 5 minutes until she got used to them and felt comfortable enough to calm down. I didn't know how well this collar would work on an extra large dog, since I couldn't find any reviews of people using it on their great dane or other really large breeds. And our dog is a little nervous around new people, so I really wondered if a bark collar would be a good idea or not (or whether it could possibly make her more nervous), but she is a big dog and her barking can really scare some people who aren't comfortable around dogs, so we decided to test it out. We followed the instructions exactly, and used the setting where the shock level reset at 1 again each time. It worked! It didn't prevent her from ever making noise (which isn't what we were trying to do -- we're ok with our dogs letting out a couple short barks to alert us to someone at the door or a stranger approaching, we just wanted to stop the incessant barking problem). The first day we used it, after 2 or 3 barks she definitely noticed the collar and quieted down. It started working quickly, and has worked consistently since we got it. We did follow the instructions, and remove the bark collar every night (although there have been a handful of nights we have forgotten to take it off overnight, with no apparent negative effects). The best thing about this collar, is that it has not only improved our dog's barking habit, but it has improved her other behavior too. As I mentioned, our dog is a little nervous when meeting new people. Especially men. Or anyone with a beard, or wearing a hat, sunglasses, a large coat, or carrying anything large in their arms. Basically, she's a big scaredy cat. Since the day we adopted her and brought her home, she has been really afraid of my adult brothers and my father (even though they are calm people who have experience around dogs). My dog will bark at them and run away from them every time they come over to our house, no matter how much time they spend letting her warm up to them or offering her treats. But since she's had the bark collar, she doesn't act totally scared of them anymore. She may still approach them slowly at first, but she doesn't bark, usually doesn't run away, and she will even go up to them and let them pet her on her own now. The only thing I can figure is that the barking used to get her so worked up that she was then even more anxious around them, and now that the barking has significantly decreased she doesn't get so worked up in the first place, so she can relax around them a lot easier than she used to. It's really amazing that this one little collar has made such a big change in our lives with our sweet scaredy cat of a great dane!I chose this collar on the recommendation of a friend, and because we have two dogs, so I didn't want the dog wearing the collar to get shocked if the other dog ever barked (we previously tried a different bark deterrent product from the local Petsmart store, which let out an ultrasonic deterrent sound everytime the dog barked. Unfortunately, we noticed that product also made the sound when the other dog occasionally barked, or when the kids were noisy, or when the kids practiced the piano. We had to stop using that one quickly!) This collar, on the other hand, works great, I don't think she's ever been shocked when she was not barking).Oh, and I should also say, about a month or two after getting the collar we switched to using the setting where it starts at the level that it left off at the last time when the dog starts barking again the next time. That's because our dog has learned that she can make lower pitched/quieter little barks and they won't trigger the collar, but then if she raises her volume at all it will trigger it. Once we switched that setting, it has consistently continued to work well for us. It's not a way to silence a dog. And we're ok with 2 or 3 short barks to let us know there's someone approaching us. But this has all but stopped the barking at people over the fence, barking at our neighbors when they are in their back yards, barking at people who we invite into our home, etc. (Except on the couple of days when we have forgotten to put the bark collar on in the morning. Then we quickly remember to put it back on again). :)

This collar deserves a through review because it’s much different than all the others I've tried. When I decided to try a bark collar, I started with trying cheaper ones on Amazon. If a $30 collar is gonna do the trick, why spend almost $100?ISSUES WITH THE CHEAPER BARK COLLARS:1. They were too sensitive or not sensitive enough. I couldn't find a reliable in-between. If the sensitivity was too high, the collar would either go off from background noise or from the jingle of his collar. If he was playing with another dog, it would also go off at the wrong times.2. Shock levels were either not enough shock or WAY too much shock. We tested it on ourselves and it did not gradually increase shock, there was a big jump on some of them from a static zap to OMG THAT REALLY HURT3. Not water-proof. Winter snow + cheap collar- non responsive unit. I'm sure overtime rain or even a small splash in a puddle would break most of these units.HOW THE COLLAR WORKS- 3 SETTINGS:1. Manual- you set the shock level and it will always shock at that one level2. Temperament learning- Similar to manual mode except the bark collar helps you decided which level is best. It will increase shock values and remain at that level once the dog decides "nope, I'm not barking anymore that one hurts too much" So if level "4" is the level your dog decides it not worth barking at, it will remain at level "4" for future barks as the optimal shock level.3. - Progressive Learning- Also increases shock value as your dog decides to consistently bark. When your dog stops and remains stopped for several minutes, the shock level goes back down to 1 for the next time your dog barks. This is better if you want to always start at the low level so the least amount of shock is delivered to begin with. This is what I use for my small dog.I USED IT FOR TWO DIFFERENT SIZED DOGS AT FIRST:When I first bought the collar, my dog was barely 7lbs and around 6 months old. Toy poodle. The collar wasn't working for him. He would give a loud strong bark and it wouldn't go off. It had an accuracy rate of around 40% I decided he was too small and put it on my 40lb dog who it worked wonderfully on. The 40lb dog barks only at cats in the neighboring yard, but the poodle barks at every noise, person, animal, etc...I spent the next 6 months trying to find another collar that worked for the poodle. Nothing was a good fit. The ones with a warning "buzz" before hand allowed him to figure out ways around not getting shocked. I gave each collar 3 weeks and they all failed. The good collars he would outsmart and the bad collars never seemed reliable in the first place. So now 6 months has gone by and my 40lb dog has been able to go without a shock collar and his barking is no longer an issue. I decided to try to collar again on the now 1 year old 10 lb toy poodle. It worked BEAUTIFULLY!!! It hasn't yet falsely shocked him, and it is reliable every time he tries to bark. He understands that barks=shock. His anxiety has decreased significantly and he has learned to greet people at the door silently but still friendly and exited- only he doesn't bark along with it now.Why didn't it work on the Poodle the first time?I believe the issue I was having before with poodle was that the collar was not fitted correctly on him. It has to be very snug. The sensor for this collar is between the two prongs. Very different than all the other collars I've tried. It uses vibration from the vocal cords to know when the dog is barking. You should be able to fit one finger under the collar, but that’s it. If it’s too loose, the collar cannot feel the vibration during the bark and therefore not trigger the shock. The collar does turn a bit sideways sometimes but it still works fine when it’s not perfectly centered below his chinCONS:1. It is not the same charger as any other electronic device you own. If you lose the charger, ya gotta buy a new one and it isn't cheap. I wish it was a mini usb charger like everything else in my house that has a rechargeable battery.2. The collar is very stiff and hard to get stung at first. It’s the buckle collar type and I've always found that it’s gonna be a little TOO tight right before you fasten it and my dog freaks out sometimes when I'm putting it on.

Let me preface by saying this NoBark collar is my second successful product from SportDOG. The first was their excellent inground fence system which finally curbed our dogs roaming off the homestead (and visiting our neighbors dogs and causing a bit to much excitement). The nobark collar solved our frustration the first day of use.The breed of dog is a briard/german shepherd mix about eighty-five pounds.Living in a rural setting, we get plenty of wildlife wandering in. The worst offender are the deer, who have learned the outside boundary of our inground fence. The deer are calm as can be while walking by, grazing or even bedding down outside the boundary. Our dog will run to the edge of the fence and bark. And bark. And bark. This is not one or two barks every thirty seconds, it is an incessant 4-6 bark chain with one second pause to bother to breathe with a continuation for long stretches. And he is a big dog so his bark really carries. The neighbor's car going up the driveway would also trigger this barking chain. Another barking behavior is frantic barking/whining and scratching the kitchen door to get outside when our other dog barks at the deer (the door is now heavily pitted with scratches).Pros+ the collar offers three modes to customize the strength of correction and barking conditions. For our dog we selected the progressive mode which escalates the correction shock the longer the dog barks, then resets after 30 seconds. The dog can get a bark or two off before he senses the correction and ceases. Other modes will remember strength of last correction to stop barking or the third being user set levels.+ collar build is very rugged. It is water-proof, solid plastic housing, and the collar band a strong glossy rubber. You can cut the collar end for a better fit with scissors.+ battery in the collar is rechargeable and seems to hold a charge for weeks. Simple plug cord into the collar and to a wall outlet and it charges in 2-4 hours.+ activating the collar and switching modes may require a reading of the manual once. But otherwise very straightforward with the Collar light display clearly indicating modes. Holding down the collar button will turn it on and off and swap modes.+ this collar will NOT trigger from another dogs bark or from growling/whining. We have two dogs, one wearing the collar, and they will stand shoulder to shoulder with the other barking and it won't trigger. It requires both audio bark and the vibration from the dog wearing the collar.+ we use this nobark collar in combination with the sportDOG inground pet fence. Our dog seemed to figure out the correction was for barking and not the fence boundary the first day. I would observe the dog behavior to ensure he is not experiencing confusion between the two devices and corrections. Just remember you shouldn't leave the collar on for more then twelve hours a day.Cons **I always leave a con even when i rate a five star product**- the collar does not come with a second pair of longer collar prongs. If you have a long haired breed, you may need to cut the fur beneath the dog's neck. Our dog HATES the clippers and won't sit still. The collar needs to have close skin contact to deliver the correction. The inground pet fence had a extra pair of longer prongs.- the collar uses a buckle to secure the collar to the dog. It can be a bit stiff and awkward to put it on a squirming or excitable dog. I almost would have preferred a simple quick release plastic buckle or even velcro, but i can still appreciate why they chose this method. It definitely is secure when attached to the dog!ConclusionThe collar has solved our problem with excessive barking. I also have noticed reduced frantic behavior such as the door scratching and racing out to bark at the neighbors car. The dog is quiet, calm, and still as affectionate as ever. I wish we had gotten one sooner after all that interrupted sleep. If you want a quality solution to your dog problem I would easily reply: Get SportDog.UPDATE: So it has been almost five months and the collar remains a success. Our routine is to allow the dog to wear the collar in the early evening and through the night so we can get rest. ( no barking at a noise in the woods at 2am) Collar comes off first thing with morning feeding. During the daytime the collar is actually off as he has mellowed in temperament with maturity and has accepted deer passing beyond the fence. Surprisingly he will sit calmly when I bring out the collar and allows me to put it on him with no struggle. One habit he still has is a hatred of UPS and USPS. The collar will disrupt his eagerness to charge down our gravel road to intercept the truck. He will get a few barks off and then retreat back towards the house. Sometimes he prances ahead of the truck as it arrives rather then bite at the tires. The collar snaps him out of aggressive mode and now he seems to like meeting the drivers but not the trucks still...UPDATE 2: So the collar still working great and functioning. The rubber button however has gone missing exposing the plastic button beneath. Not sure if the glue wore out or the dog knocked it loose rolling in the grass... Not a big deal as I was able to just use electeical tape and wrap it to isolate from moisture getting into the unit. Still would recrommend this product!

We have an 8-year old male Rottweiler mix who is sweet, but thinks he's the world's best guard dog. Our problem was not continuous barking over long periods, but rather the unexpected bursts of overenthusiastic barking for 5-15 seconds, coupled with him lunging at the windows and scratching up the windowsills and trim, any time a person, dog, cat or squirrel came within view of our house. We also have two cats who didn't grow up with the dog and are afraid of him, so they stay upstairs - but with our open 2-story foyer, the dog can see them moving around up there and would also bark loudly at them, often waking up our toddler. We've tried every kind of training we could think of, but our dog is amazingly stubborn and his barking instinct too strong, so finally in desperation I did some research and found this collar. It's AWESOME. We've tried all three settings and found that the two which use progressive corrections didn't work for us, because he didn't bark long enough for the level to increase to a point where it would affect him; it seems those would be perfect for people whose dogs bark continuously for long periods of time instead of dogs with shorter bursts of barking. We use the manual setting, and have found that we only had to go to Level 4 (out of 9) to redirect his attention when he starts barking. He's learned not to bark every time someone or something goes walking by - and if he does bark, he rarely barks more than once before he gets a correction. The redirection has also cured the problem of him jumping at the windows, too, which is saving our woodwork.NOTE: This collar is extremely sensitive, which is usually a good thing, but - on several occasions, we've witnessed our dog standing there silently, and yet getting a correction from the collar when our neighbor's dog barked (standing roughly a foot or two away from our dog). So it seems the collar picked up the sound and vibration from the other dog's bark, and went off. (For this reason alone, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.) We've stopped using the collar when our dog is socializing with the neighbor's dogs. We also take it off when playing tug of war or rough-housing with him, because the vibration and sound of his playful growling will also set it off. We're extremely pleased with this collar. It works, the battery lasts forever before needing a recharge, and it'll fit even the largest dogs (our dog is 80-85 lbs., and with it properly fit, we still have at least 5 inches of extra collar length left over). Highly recommend!!
