So it doesn't do what it's supposed to do which is send an alert to users who have the device connected to their smartlife app. It will only alert you if you actively have the app open. That's not helpful. Push notifications are what's needed.

Although this SOS button functions, it's usefulness is hobbled by the need for a paid subscription service. The only free services provided, is to check for a low battery, or notify the police if the button is pressed (which isn't allowed in most jurisdictions). The SOS button is large and thick. With an overall diameter of 2 in and a thickness of a half an inch, wearing it on the included lanyard would be awkward. It has a limited range, with the internet connection being unreliable at 60 ft.Taking into consideration the important function that this device has to provide, I believe that there are better options available.

This panic button can be a useful alert system for seniors with some caveats. You may be able to receive notifications on your phone when the button is pressed. BUTâbe aware that while there is no monthly fee for the service, there IS a charge for SMS or call notifications (see pictures). Without this, youâll only receive a delayed popup notification on the app, which can take 1-2 minutes. The somewhat easy, just pair the button with your phone through Wi-Fi, but keep in mind that it requires a stable network to function properly. Itâs a good option for providing some independence to seniors, but itâs important to understand the limitations before relying on it for emergency situations.

The packaging for this panic button emphasizes simplicity and safety, aimed at seniors or anyone needing quick emergency access. It's not been used yet, so its effectiveness in real scenarios is unknown. Compatible only with 2.4GHz WiFi, it integrates with Tuya Smart/Smart Life apps, suggesting ease of use without monthly fees. The device's quality seems reasonable, designed for one-button operation in emergencies. Its simplicity is its strength, but the lack of experience with it leaves questions about reliability or response times. For anyone considering this for peace of mind, the app integration and no-fee model are significant draws, but actual performance remains to be seen.Fun Fact: Panic buttons have evolved from physical devices to smart, app-integrated solutions for personal security. Company Fact: Chatthen focuses on smart home safety solutions, likely starting in the late 2010s to meet the needs of an aging population.

Let me start by saying that I'm an experienced smart home user, using Home Assistant as my smart home controller. There is a Tuya/Smartlife integration for Home Assistant which is able to integration almost all devices that use the Smartlife App. I say almost, because this is one of the few items that doesn't easily integrate. The listing states that there is no monthly subscription required, but without the subscription this SOS button only allows for very basic functionality. The only native entity that appears is the battery level indicator. Which leave very little room for including it in my smart home setup.Sure, I could splurge for the very affordable monthly fee, but as this listing stated.. Without the subscription, I should still be able to use it functionally. The device does send alerts to the Smartlife app, but you must have the app installed on your smart phone. The alert is easy to miss, and could easily be swiped away in an emergency situation.. Most important is the alert does not repeat. It sends a single alert when the SOS button is pressed. If you don't look at your phone, or have the volume off you would easily miss the alert all together.I really hoped that I could make this item work as a type of hidden "panic" button in my house. But I'm unable to make it easily work with Home Assistant. Thanks for reading, and the opportunity to review this item. Given my experience and my expectations, I can't recommend this SOS panic button. The functions are to limited without a monthly subscription.Don't take my word for it, read the other reviews so that you can make an informed buying decision. Thanks!
