I could not use a traditional fork tool or a U Puller on a 1966 Mustang steering cylinder. This easily tapped into place and popped the ball joint with a 1/2 inch ratchet! I do not have air tools in that garage and after two nights of beating.... this tool arrived.... popped the joint and new cylinder installed very quickly with it! Thank you!

It is a simple tool, but mine was made poorly so it did not work. The screw was misaligned so that it missed the lever arm completely which prevents it from working. The lever arm was also bent and both of these errors are not fixable because the tool is die cat metal. Shame

A few things I liked about this tool. Best price on Amazon. It arrived at my house within one day. I was removing a steering slave cylinder from a 66 mustang. This part was on the for 57 years! With this tool I was able to remove it in a few minutes. If you're looking for a pretty shiny tool this ain't it, if you're looking for a VERY economical tool that works, this tool's for you.

Sort of low quality tool. Pin is loose and it mat work ok but not great quality. Longevity is questionable.

Was attempting to seperate a ball joint with the impact wrench and to my surprise it bent near the bolt. I released it to not snap it in two. Bummer!

Worked a treat. Smack the split jaw well into the tie rod joint, and haul the bolt till the joint bangs free....grease the bolt threads well, Tighten the mini Allen keyed threaded pin , which holds the spindle pin on the splitter, and it does the job fine. I split 4 joints within an hour of getting this, and all were on super-tight...i mean tight as Fort Knox security doors. Each seperated like a rifle shot...and sure enough, some bright spark had put Loktite on as well as 50ft lbs.torque.Great product, and the cheapest too, with all the rest overcharging like no tomorrow., as usual.

I used this tool to separate the lower control arm pin from the knuckle in my 2010 Mazda 3. It worked like a charm, considering all the rust in the assembly and the fact that it was the first time the components were disassemble since the car was built. Of course, it is not professional quality, and the price isn’t either. If you are replacing wheel bearings, get one of these, money well spent.

My kia Rio 07 ball joint died. Tool seems rugged but it isn't. I almost got all the tension screw in and the ball joint didn't pop. Lots of Penetrating oil; I had to hammer the lower control arm, then it popped out. I noticed the part that gets the end of the tension screw bent noticeably and the little forks did as well a bit. I don't think it can be usable for a second time around. The metal seems to be of a weak alloy. The thread on the screw is fine, I think it should be coarse for more durability. I won't buy this item from this manufacturer, or any item from this manufacturer ever again.

The tool is definitely built well, and the metal casting (or however it is formed) is very strong. To fit around my Audi's ball joint I had to expand the opening with a grinder. No problems after that.Edit: I ended up stripping the threads on a real stuck ball joint. As per another review (on my second purchase) I made sure to lube the threads, tightened until a 1/4" ratchet was hard to turn, then hammered the bolt side to knock it loose.
