About this item

  • Premium Ultra Low Watt Density heating element has 5 year warranty
  • 240V/4500W
  • UL listed
  • Resists dry firing, lime deposits, and sand that would burn out ordinary elements
  • Minimum tank diameter 15"

Camco's 4500W/240V screw-in foldback type Ultra low watt density water heater elements are better suited for areas with problem water (hard water, lime, etc.) Premium Ultra LWD Lime Life elements carry a limited 5 year warranty. The Ultra LWD of this element helps prevent lime deposits and the high performance nickel-chromium stainless steel alloy sheath gives it additional strength to resist dry firing. The combined effect make the element better suited for use in areas with problem or intermittent water supply. Screw-in type elements are universal replacement parts that fit most models of American, AO Smith, Bradford White, Craftmaster (prior to 1991), GE, GS Wood (certain models), Kenmore, Lochinvar, Maytag, Mor-Flo, Reliance, Rheem, Richmond, Rudd, Sears, State, Whirlpool and most water heaters manufactured after 1994. The replacement element must be the same voltage and wattage as the element being replaced. Never exceed the nameplate rating on the water heater.

Lowe's, Home Depot, and Ace didn't have the heating element in the size I needed. I contacted Camco about the one I saw on Amazon, and the customer service rep (Quincy Jones!) told me the length of the one I eventually ordered. It was perfect! Thanks to Amazon and that amazing composer Quincy for steering me right!

The 02922 is the element you receive. 02922 is a bulk packaged thing that plumbing supply stores order. 02923 is what normal people buy. When you buy the 02923, you get it in nice happy plastic saying that you ordered a steel rod. Either way, the part number written on the element is 02922.This rod resists everything. Hard water, sulfurous acidic water, acid rain, global warming, stock market trends, mother-in-law pressure - all of it.My well puts out slightly acidic, elevated levels of sulfur and elevated iron levels. Without a softener, it's nasty. With a softener, the resulting water destroys stock copper heating elements. These elements last as long as a water heater does - maybe 6 years. No metallic stink, no gray water from element degradation, no gas bubbles in the line. This has been my go-to element for a while now.You need a 1 1/2 inch socket, and a phillips head screwdriver to change these. It's best if you turn the power off, turn the water off, drain the tank, but I wouldn't want to tell someone how to maintain their home. Remember - if you have acid rain, indoors, this is the heating element for you!

One of the terminal screws would not tighten. The threads would not move. The element does work but not in a safe manner. Could not contact seller

I bought this for a RIMS system on my home brewery. With that in mind:I was able to adapt this for use in a 1" NPT fitting with no problems. Took a bit of teflon tape, but no leaks and no issues. It fits well in a 18", 1 1/2" stainless nipple with a tee and bell reducer on it. I hook it to 220VAC (I have read on some forums that 110VAC will work for the RIMS, but have not tried that), and it will heat water or wort at full flow of my Chugger brand mash pump with ease. I am able to maintain recirculation temperature within about 0.5F with this heater.Overall, while I do not use this for it's intended purpose, I am very happy with the purchase.
