We bought this to fix the water heater on our boat. The boat is 2005 and it was the original water heater and to replace the heater would of cost a few hundreds of dollars if we could even find one. My husband popped it in and we turned it on and it worked. The price for this was 11dollars so a cheap fix.

So my OEM heating element in my heater burned out when it was powered up w/o water in it. Although this unit is several inches shorter, it does a great job providing hot heat on our boat. I believe the wattage is slightly higher also. I would buy again if needed.

Simply put, it does what it should. Installation is easy but be sure it is the correct model for your heater.

As far as it's function, it works well, it is universal, easy to install and sturdy. It is, like the other reviewer states, NOT 14 inches long. That may have been the measurement of the package it came in but the element itself only extends approx 5-6 inches from the base. This ended up working out for me since I was using this for a DIY immersion circulator build but if you were trying to replace a heater in a tank you may be best looking elsewhere.
