Product is pricey, but worth it to not have to worry about our water heater and furnace while we are away. We use it as the back up pump, and even though there is the added expense of having to buy a 12V battery, the auto-charge feature provides peace of mind. We had it professionally installed, so the overall cost exceeded $1k, but we had two instances where we got got lucky to not lose our water heater; wasn't going to risk a third. Very happy with this product

Nice and simple to install - you DO need to buy a 1 1/2" coupling if your sump pump has been installed and the back-up pump is an add-on. Otherwise it just needed a few cuts, some glue and the battery (another $200 to $450 depending on size. Get the bigger one if you live in an area prone to longer outages and/or are anywhere near the watertable.) Directions are pretty straight forward but if you're a home owner without any DIY experience - you just have to think about it first (there are 15 steps with measurements and a decision tree based on pit size) It IS easy when you look at what you're doing but if you have no mechanical inclination at all - just call a friend who does. It takes longer to read the instructions than it does to actually do the work. The electrical is really well marked and the plug-ins are straight forward. Tried, tested and true. It arrived very quickly too - as advertised.

Great product. Comes with everything you need except the battery. Teamed it up with a 27M Interstate battery from costco and works great. I am very surprised by the speed at which it pumps water out of the sump for being a 12 volt pump, very close to the speed of my zoeller 120 volt pump.

Seems to be working but I haven't had a power outage yet. Price is far too high for this plastic pump.7/19/17 - Follow-up - We lost power last night for about one hour and the backup pump worked flawlessly.

Excellent product. Came in on time and as described. Only little snag is that some of the fittings in the package are 1 1/4“ in size, while my setup called for 1.5“. Very minor problem since proper parts are easily available at Home Depot. Installed and tested it, and it's working beautifully. Feel much safer after french drain installation in cases of primary pump outages or power failures.

Easy to install. Great peace of mind, as we had our sump pump turn off while out of town, but luckily no water damage that time. With this, we don't worry about that anymore.

So I bought this pump as a backup to my sump pump. I've tested it and it moves more water than I thought it would. I have not lost power yet, but from my tests of unplugging my main sump and waiting till this kicked in, it worked well. i really like the idea that is has a really loud alarm that kicks in when the pump runs. This way if the pump runs when the other pump should be working, I get a alert that something is wrong. It also has a "Silent" function so if you lose power, you can turn off the horrible noise. Also, it is only on when the pump runs which is nice. While I'm happy with the pump, the 4 stars are for a number of things which keep it from being a 5 star product.1) The pump is very light and does not seem that sturdy - It works, so I let that pass2) When I received the pump, the main controller board housing was damaged. It looked like something got dropped on it. for what i paid, it would have been nice not to have scratches / broken cosmetic items3) Because I have a smaller basin (18 inches) the installation was not nearly as straight forward as one would expect.4) and the biggest grip - There is no support for pump if you can't put it on the bottom of the basin. Let me explain - because of the small basin, I had to install the backup above my main sump. Once I got the pipes all hooked up and ready to go, I went to put the pump in, and it was just hanging there (at least it was light). so I dug through the box and tried to find something that would support this pump. There was some sort of flimsy strap that I though I might be able to use but that required the pump to be against the wall of the basin so that was not going to work. I got creative and built my own stand out of PVC as a way to support the pump. Now the pump is hooked up to the pipes and is supported in the basin so I don't have to worry about the pump problems with piping. In the end, everything worked out and the backup pump does what it is suppose to do. I can't talk to duration of the pump as I have not had it that long, but if it fails quickly, you can be sure that I will update this review.
