I have a MacbookPro with a M2 chip, and I can FINALLY have a double monitor again!! I've tried so many other solutions that didn't work, I'm so happy this did (along with the plugable dock)! I tried different docks, different adapters, software, etc. I'm so pleased this actually works!!!

The cheap laptop I bought only had one HDMI port and the USB ports did not support video. I already had an HDMI enabled monitor connected to my laptop, but wanted a second display for work. I plugged this unit into a USB-A port, plugged an HDMI enabled monitor into the unit, and now I have 2 working displays. It really could not be much more simple.

I purchased this to add a third monitor to a M1 Mac Mini and it works great most of the time. It took a few minutes to find the drivers and software needed, but once set up for the most part it works flawlessly.I've been using it for a few months now, and the only complaint I have, and I'm not entirely sure if it's the device or something with the Mac, but every once in a while it just won't seem to connect and I either have to restart the computer, or unplug and replug it in to get it to work.

Available in a number of different "versions" but all are identical with the exception of the display interface they output. I've used plenty of DisplayLink USB display adapters over the years but this is my first experience with one based on "Silicon Motion" and I wasn't sure what to expect. Turns out, it just works... tested on a fairly low end Windows 11 PC. Plug into USB port, plug your monitor cable into it, Windows 11 immediately installs the drivers and your monitor is displaying a desktop within literally seconds. I did go to the Plugable site to download the latest software to see if there was anything being missed out on by letting Windows automatically handle it but there isn't. If your machine is connected to the internet you don't have to do a thing, and there is nothing to configure after either.I used a low end PC for a reason because at least in the past with these USB display adapters performance was an issue, with them sucking up considerable processing power and often failing to be useful for even playing simple full screen videos back. I played some YouTube videos full screen on the monitor powered by the Plugable adapter and everything was just fine and CPU usage of the display driver stayed below 10% even on a weak machine. I really could not tell a difference in visual quality between the monitor being plugged in natively or through the USB adapter.Device itself is compact and well made, nice that it has an integral adapter so you can use USB-C or USB-A host ports. It's plug and play and couldn't be any simpler to get an extra monitor hooked up to a machine that otherwise doesn't have the native ports. Only thing is they seem a bit pricy to me for being limited to 1080P in 2022, but if you only need to hook up 1080P monitors then you're not losing anything.

Disclosure: we received three of these adaptors to review and they're all equally excellent, with the only difference being the output ports - one is single HDMI, the other dual HDMI, one DisplayPort. Because they function virtually the same, our reviews are substantively similar. For context, since the pandemic started, we've moved several of our workstations in commercial offices home (condo, house, apartment). We also have a tonne of different systems from iPad Pros and Airs to Windows PCs, conventional (Intel-based) Macs, and most recently M1-based Macs (and iPads).Big issue with M1 Macs: they're picky about peripherals - specifically, display adaptors. Most aren't compatible and will, at best, let you extend your desktop to a single external screen, not multiples, but many won't even do that, only allowing mirroring. This Plugable adaptor breaks the M1 limitation and allows proper extended desktop on external screens.Zero hiccups for us on every device we've tried - it just works - and as with all the other Plugable brand equipment we've tried build quality is top notch. Our only gripe (for which we're not docking any stars) is price - you pay a premium for Plugable - but we're still recommending this single-HDMI port unit, and both of the other adaptors (dual HDMI & single DP) we tried.

First off, I want to state that I have looked at a couple of similar items from this brand, "Plugable" recently and it is fast becoming one of my most trusted accessory brands. Their products do not seem to disappoint and this USB to Single HDMI adapter was no exception. As before, this device has good build quality and is more than durable enough for its intended role. It is quite compact and is a very simple yet very effective device. I appreciate that there is a tethered dongle that will allow you to make use of this with either a "legacy" USB-A connection or a USB-C. However, I would have liked it more if it were the other way around with a permanent USB-C with the legacy USB-A connector as the tethered dongle adapter piece. I say that just because USB-C is fast becoming the norm or defacto standard and if you intend to use this with a newer notebook pc, you will more than likely be making the connection via USB-C and not legacy "A". In any event, it functions very well using either method of connection, so I am not really complaining but just pointing out what my preference would have been.In actual use I am pleased with the operation of this HDMI Adapter. It works just described and it is basically just a straight plug and play device. Just to clarify, I only made use of this with a Windows based system, so I cannot offer opinion on a Mac based setup. In my application, I was making use of this to create a second display for use in a Virtual Pinball setup using a notebook PC that had only a single video output. This Plugable adatper functions perfectly so that I can use the main 15.6" display of the notebook for the "backglass/DMD" screen and this Plugable adapter is feeding a 27" screen, in vertical mode, to function as the main pinball "playfield".Overall, I am impressed with this Plugable USB to Single HDMI Adapter. I have now looked at several differing products from this brand it is seems to impress me each and every time. They also have a 2 year warranty with email technical support so I feel you can purchase their products with confidence. At the current listing price of $89, I feel this is more than reasonable considering the good build quality and how well this item works. My only issue is that as I noted previously, I would have preferred that USB-C was the primary connector in the dongle setup, but I am still giving this product a 5 out of 5.Highly Recommended!
