most hanger bolts have either a hex socket or phillips head so you can screw them into whatever, but these don't so you'll need to put a couple of nuts on the machine screw side to anchor the bolt ...

These work well, but the threads are pretty crunchy on mine. Doesn't impact their function, unless you intend to remove something threaded on routinely. I don't, so these work fine, but they're nothing fancy.

I bought these to replace the bolts in the replacement tapered legs I bought for my Karlstad IKEA sofa which came with 5.16 bolts. I unscrewed the old ones, and put in the M8s which are a perfect fit! Screwed all the way in without the fuss and ugliness of extra hardware.
