This chain comes up a little short. It actually measures 17.5" and not the described 18". The missing 1/2" would make the chain go over my dog's head easier and not have to fight with it over the ears as much.The quality seems good, except for some reason the links keep getting twisted up, almost like they are not inline with one another. For whatever its worth, I have been and will remain a fan of Herm Sprenger, I think I received a dud on this one though.

The black stainless steel collar broke on a bathroom break…. Herm Sprenger pretty much discredited the failure. I always saw them as the pinnacle in real dog collars and here we are… buy the junk Rural King collar and save your money…

I show my dogs in Obedience, where you cannot have ANYTHING hanging from the collar, even a tiny little tag. Took 10 min. of hard work to remove. And, if the links were tighter, the collar action would be much better…it would slip & release more quickly. HS quality is always excellent (and why I gave 3 stars instead of 2), but because of these two issues I wouldn’t buy this collar again.

What’s up with the period in “Herm.”? Is that an abbreviation for Hermann”? So you end up saving two whole characters? Or only one if it was “Herman” to start with? It’s not like Herm means something disgusting in German, like Eater of Discarded Birkenstocks or whatever, so you need a period to really prove it’s just short for Hermann. The chain is good though.
