This thing is great! My old filter has had to remoce to clean properly and the o ring was tired after 3 cleanings. This removes all those problems!

This is the same as most of the other manual spindown filters you find. They are probably all made in the same factory in China and are just rebranded. It works... it's a good first filter coming off your well. It will collect the larger particles before they get to your smaller paper/carbon filters. Put this as your first line of defense and spin it occasionally to knock the sediment off the screen, then just drain it with a quick twist on the bottom valve and you're good to go.Every now and then you might have to take it apart and give the screen a good scrub, but it's better than clogging up your filter all the time.It's a good as option as any other spindown filter of this type.

As a pre-storage tank element, this filter in an excellent precursor to a whole house water filtration system.As shown in the photo, the spin-down filter is located between incoming water from the well and the storage-pressure tank. This location keeps most sediment and fine sand out of the tank, and the clear housing makes viewing of contaminants quick and easy. Turning the filter’s white base ring & internal ‘scrubbers’ surrounding the 100 micron screen filter loosens foreign objects and allows their discharge via the valve at the bottom into a clear polyurethane hose and 5 gallon bucket where I can see what’s coming out of the well.No system is perfect, but this unit—positioned as a pre-filter prior to the storage-pressure tank and 3-element APPLIED MEMBRANES INC. Whole House Water Filter system— is a step in the right direction. And because I incorporated 1” ball valves that allow isolation of the filter unit, I can easily disassemble the unit to inspect and clean the internal stainless steel screen if necessary.After carefully examining the design and assessing the function of three such filters, I concluded that this particular unit was the best among three competitors.

This is a well made and solid product. It functions well once installed. My only gripe is the thread seems to be too big or perhaps it's not NPT, it's straight thread that fits NPT (not tapered thread). Male fittings were quite loose in the threads and I had to use more than usual teflon to get a good seal after several attempts having leaks. Why is it so hard to get products that are specifically designed to be used with pipe to be designed with pipe thread? Seems to be a common problem. Once installed with ample Teflon tape, the filter works great.
