Sharp as sharp can be. They cut through 2 1/2" branches quite easily. Really nice quality metal and durable. I kept the package because it keeps the gears and blades clean. Ive used it for a full summer, a fall clean up and a spring pruning. Really good quality. Would definitely recommend.

The Spear & Jackson 8290RS Razorsharp Heavy Duty Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Loppers looks awesome. Well built and strong. Being retired I spend much of my time in working in the woods on my property building trails and a good set of loppers are a necessity.Usually by my Loppers from local Canadian Tire or Kent's building supply and even though I by the best they usually end up being tossed in the garbage after a year. However the Spear & Jackson 8290RS Razorsharp Heavy Duty Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Loppers should last a lifetime. Getting up there in age and hopefully I will outlive the 10yr guarantee. My wife was the one to ask for a new lopper but I think I will be the one using this one, because it is heavy to carry

I bought the O.G. version of this tool about 12 years ago at a trade show, and they finally broke. Ordered this replacement one and it's basically the exact same model. Works great so far

Awesome product, easy on the hands, every bit as good as advertised. I bought 2 as I liked the first one so much! I still use the original one, just purchased another one as I use them at 2 different locations!

Purchased to prune apple tree branches that regular loppers couldnt quite slice through. Works up to 1 to 1 1/2 inch diameter branches. Extends one length on both arms to reach farther--dont buy one with 2 lengths elsewhere as you wont have the leverage or strength (from your arm or your lopper) to angle a proper cut. Use a ladder, not an extender, preferably. Ratcheting mechanism also serves to close the cutting blade against the anvil--can be tricky the first time you use it but worth persevering. Relatively expensive, but from a reputable manufacturer. Perfect team with heavy-duty ratcheting secateurs and Baek Ma folding pruning saw from Lee Valley.

These loppers are amazing for cutting up small dead trees and large branches on our rural property for firewood. I wish I had a pair many years ago. They are really sturdy and cut so easy. I love the ratchet system. For those smaller branches, non ratchet loppers are better. I filled a wheelbarrow with small logs within an hour. I’ll add, I’m a senior with a torn rotator cuff tendon and arthritis and these made this chore really easy.

I purchased this tool to clear our rural property of dead wood and overgrown small alder trees around our pond and streams. Cuts through the branches like butter. It did take a few tries before I got the hang of how they work as the ratchet action is different than regular clippers. I'm on the petite side and don't have a lot of upper body strength so I found them a bit heavy, but they do great job and I guess my arms will look great by next summer.
